Non-standard processes
The way your company works differs from the standard processes available in off-the-shelf systems.
Polish technology company for the TSL sector
We design and build custom TMS systems for transport, forwarding and logistics companies. Our solutions fit your real operational processes – from order handling and transport planning, through fleet and drivers, to documents, billing, reporting and integrations with ERP, telematics and transport platforms.
Appwise is a Polish technology company from Wrocław. We don't sell a ready-made product – we build the system around your processes, combining transport planning, automation, AI and integrations with the tools you already use.
Off-the-shelf TMS systems work well for companies whose processes can adapt to the system's standard way of working. Problems start when an organisation has its own operating model, non-standard processes, many integrations, or does much of its work outside the TMS – in Excel, email or extra tools.
In such cases a custom TMS lets you build the system around how your company really works. Features, automations, integrations and logic follow your processes, not the limits of a packaged product.
A custom system isn't right for every company. If your processes are standard and well served by an off-the-shelf TMS, buying one will usually be faster and cheaper. Consider a custom solution when:
The way your company works differs from the standard processes available in off-the-shelf systems.
Dispatchers and forwarders also juggle Excel, email, messengers or extra apps.
The TMS has to work with ERP, telematics, accounting, freight exchanges, customer systems or other tools.
Transport planning requires your own business rules, constraints, telematics data or automation.
You want to reduce manual work in order handling, documents, planning, reporting or shipment monitoring.
You want control over how the system evolves and to adapt it as your business changes.
We don't build one TMS product and then adapt it to every client. The scope follows the processes and needs of your organisation.
Creating, importing, editing and handling the full order life cycle.
Assigning orders to vehicles and drivers and planning shipments.
Helping planners choose routes and use available resources.
Information on vehicles, drivers, availability and ongoing shipments.
Live view of shipments, statuses and estimated delivery times.
Handling transport documents and automating their flow.
Data for shipment billing and cost analysis.
Dashboards and reports based on operational data.
Mobile handling of orders, statuses, documents and communication.
Automatic execution of selected tasks and AI support for users.
Connecting the TMS with the rest of your IT environment.
Transport planning can be part of a custom TMS or a separate module integrated with the system you already use.
Depending on the process, the system can support planners' decisions or automate selected parts of planning.
See how an AI agent watches the plan and ETA (demo in Polish)Building a custom TMS doesn't mean replacing all your tools. We design systems that can integrate with:
This way the TMS can be your central operating system or cover only the areas your current setup doesn't.
We treat AI as a tool for solving a concrete operational problem, not a feature bolted on. In a custom TMS, AI and automation can support:
The level of automation always follows from the process, data quality and business case.

We start by understanding your current process, systems, user pain points and business goals.
We define the target process, system scope, integrations and key features.
We split the scope into stages and start with the features that solve the biggest operational problems and deliver the most business value.
We build the system, integrate it with your environment and test it on real processes.
After production launch the system can keep evolving with your needs.

International transport – pharma & food
A dedicated, extensive TMS with a Control Tower module, advanced vehicle re-coupling planning, ETA prediction and integrations with Comarch Optima and BI.

Logistics, road transport & international forwarding
A custom TMS aligned to the client's processes, integrated with PTV maps and SAP, plus an internal freight exchange.

Intermodal transport & container forwarding
A planner supporting dispatchers in managing and scheduling transport orders, fully integrated with the client's Interlan TMS.

Road transport & international forwarding
An AI-based order pricing system and an intelligent fleet planning module, integrated with the client's in-house TMS.
| Off-the-shelf TMS | Custom TMS |
|---|---|
| faster launch | system fitted to your process |
| lower upfront cost | integration with your existing environment |
| ready-made feature set | automation of your own processes |
| good fit for standard processes | development driven by your needs |
| development depends on the vendor | more flexibility |
| limited room for change | higher upfront investment |
If a standard TMS handles your processes well, a custom system may not have a business case. A custom solution is most valuable when technology needs to support your specific way of working or operational advantage.
A custom TMS is a transport management system designed and built around the processes of a specific organisation. Unlike an off-the-shelf product, its features, integrations and way of working follow the needs of the company.
An off-the-shelf TMS offers a fixed set of features and a fixed way of working. A custom system is designed around your processes and can evolve together with your needs.
The cost depends mainly on the scope of the system, the number of processes, integrations, the level of automation and technical requirements. That is why, before estimating, we analyse the process and define the scope of the first stage.
It depends on the scope. Larger systems are usually best built in stages, starting with the most important processes and features.
Yes. In practice it is often the best way to deliver larger systems. It lets you launch the first features sooner and develop the solution based on user experience.
Yes. Integrations with ERP, accounting, telematics, freight platforms and other systems are a typical part of custom solutions.
Yes. Telematics data can be used, among other things, to monitor shipments, vehicle location, ETA and planning.
Yes. A custom solution does not have to replace your whole TMS. We can build a separate module, e.g. for planning or automation, and integrate it with your existing system.
Yes, when AI has a concrete business use. It can support data and document processing, analysis, reporting and automation of selected tasks.
Yes. We can build a new system or develop and integrate an existing one, after first analysing its technology and architecture.
We start by understanding your process and business problem. If a custom system doesn't make sense, we'll tell you straight.
